Quick answer to my above question .....
Alfa is available - on draught - at K/Costas Chrysoula; Sofia and Lamon .... and probably several other places, too.
Next question:
Does anybody else think that canned Mythos tastes:
a} nothing like Mythos?
b} as bad as any other canned lager?
Hello,
I can't answer this but I do think (bottled) Mythos is the best of the Greek beers and they are appropriate to the ambience and climate of Greece. However, none can compare to the complexity and scope of the wonderful range of real ales we have in England.

Hi, Mike,
No argument from me about the joys of British beers/ales .... however, I don't think they would be as enjoyable in Greece. (Unless, like Dave {of the Village Store} you have been starved of them for a long time .)
As you say, it's all about ambience and climate. In Greece, my preferred swill is draught Alfa or bottled Fix (hard to find) - bottled Mythos is always a good alternative if neither of those is available.
Re. Amstel - having lived in Holland for a few years, the stuff served under that name in Greece is (1) definitely NOT Amstel and (2) bettered suited to Greece than the original but no substitute for Alfa or Mythos (IMHO).
Re. Zorbas - still haven't found any on sale! We went in the Livicon (advertising board outside) only to be told "Sorry, there's no demand - we don't stock it any more."
