You win, George. Here's the answer:

This one's a bit different: it's a photo of a photo. Two part question: 1. Where's the snowman? 2. Where's the original photo hanging?

Pete and I recon that the pic was taken from the top of the slope where I slide my yacht down into the water, the rock face in the distance is the back drop to the far end, but where the pic is is anyone's guess unless you've seen it.

The snowman is probably floating around Libya by now in liquid form.

If that is the far end cliff-face in the distance the photo is back to front.

?????????????????
If I'm right about the picture the village front is on the left hand side.
The cliff face is part of the Dinosaur which is on the left hand side of the bay when your standing facing the sea.
The steps on the far right hand side are the steps leading up on to the top of the harbour arm and the arial is visible on top of the mountain.

There again I could be wrong!

The snowman is on the pier, with the far end in the background. I saw it hanging in Lysseos Taverna, but there may be others that I don't know about.

This thread's gone a bit quiet, so where's this (it's a bit further afield)?

OK, if it's too difficult, here's the other end of the same beach:

Sougia Beach, but haveing difficulty working out  your first photo. Hope to be there mid September, but unlike Plakias, Sougia doesn't seem to change from year to year.

Stuart,

It is, of course, Sougia. If you know Sougia, the first photo is the end of the beach where there is a little beach beyond the end of the main beach. I think this is called 'The Bay of Pigs'. You can't see it on the photo, which may be why it fooled you - I think it's behind one of the big rocks. Last month you had to wade through water thigh-deep to get to this beach, and there wasn't as much beach as the last time I went.

IIRC there's a picture of Mandy on this beach somewhere on the board, maybe earlier in this thread.

Back to Plakias. This character amused me, but where can he be found?

No doubt Chas will say that he's in a toilet!

You're right it was the Bay of Pigs end that was confusing. Walking round to that bay is normally ankle deep,so could the deeper water be due to a Spring tide effect? From a previous posting I think I gathered you got a taxi from Sfakia. Which day of the week and did you have long to wait?
