You're right it was the Bay of Pigs end that was confusing. Walking round to that bay is normally ankle deep,so could the deeper water be due to a Spring tide effect? From a previous posting I think I gathered you got a taxi from Sfakia. Which day of the week and did you have long to wait?

Stuart

Stuart,

I assume you are joking about the Spring tide effect - there is no visible tide in the Libyan sea or the Aegean, let alone spring tides. It has more to do with the effect that the sea has on the beaches during the winter. Sometimes some beach is washed away and sometimes more is deposited. Red Beach near Matala is susceptible to this - I have seen pictures taken this year and there isn't much beach left. The worst one I have seen is Roukounas beach on the island of Anafi - whereas one year you could walk on the sand through some rocks from one beach to the next, the year after about 100 yards of beach had been swept away and you had to wade in water knee deep over a very stony bottom.

I did take a taxi from Chora Sfakion to Plakias. It was on a Thursday. There were no taxis around but I found a supermarket that has a taxi booking service. He couldn't find a local taxi, so he ordered one from Plakias and I had to wait about an hour. It was 50 euro. I was planning to take Zak's phone number with me, but forgot (Zak runs a taxi service in Plakias).

Back to Plakias. This character amused me, but where can he be found?

No doubt Chas will say that he's in a toilet!

No suggestions yet, so I'll give you a clue: he's in a bar in Plakias.

I now have vague recollections about what I think I saw in the Gents loo at Livicon ??? Trouble is that by the time I need that room things are indeed vague.

All wrong I'm afraid. When I said a bar, I meant just a bar not a hotel bar.

Your grabbing at straws there Chris

There's a pun there somewhere.

What's the name of the cocktail bar next door to the Kri Kri?

I think you mean Nufaro, but it's not that one.

It's not Ostraco because there's looks like this: (apologies for the poor photography, I must have had some Mythos)

(for some much better photography see this)

It's not the Livicon (as I've said before) or Sifis (I don't know that one, where is it?)

Harribobs is correct that it's somehwere between Medoussa and KC.

That means you should be able to get it by process of elimination now, as I can't think of any more.

Have a look at the rest of this set - you'll recognise one or two!

Barny,

It obviously is Plateia as it's the only one left. That makes you the winner.

Have a good one next week and don't drink the Kyma dry!!

As a matter of interest does anyone know why Greece has this quaint habit of not depositing the paper down the toilet? It seems to apply even to new builds. Does any other civilised country adopt it? Does it apply to luxury hotels and luxury homes?

I often meet people who say it is the reason they never go to Greece on holiday.

I don't think it's a quaint habit the greeks have adopted but a very poor plumbing system that can't cope with toilet roll.

Yes the bore of the plumbing at the toilet is good but the bore of the pipe gets smaller as it passes outside hence the slightest little blockage soon backs up as a few of us know! I believe the Alianthos is flushable?
This time next week I wil be testing the plumbing!
