And we haven't actually been there. We received a postcard from Lendas and it has been highly recommended by several people.
How did you rate it and how busy is it?

Stuart

I went to Lendas twice about 8 or 10 years ago. It was very quiet. If you know Sougia, then the village is (or was) a lot smaller. There were a few rooms places, a handful of small tavernas with a limited range of food and a couple of quiet bars. To approach it involves striking south from the Iraklion to Aghia Galini road at a place called Aghii Deka (Ten Saints). The road climbs over the mountains and it's a very steep drop (with spectacular views) down to Lendas. The village beach is small and pebbly but there was a large clothing-optional sandy beach, with free camping, over the headland that you can see on the photograph. Like a lot of the beaches on Greek islands, the beach varies from year to year - the first time I went it was very good, but the second time a lot of the sand had been washed away, so it wasn't as good and there was less space.

Since the last one was too easy, here's part of another one.

Thanks for info. Sounds as if it is worth a few days there. No idea on the next photo, but any info that can be
added will be gratefully received.

Harribobs,

It is indeed Red Beach near Matala. I'll have to make them more difficult. Here's another.

Can anyone identify this village for me? The photograph was taken in 1990 at a inland village somewhere within walking distance of Koxare. Angouseliana perhaps?

1. Yes, this is Aghia Galini

2. It wasn't meant to be a trick question. I couldn't remember exactly where this photograph was taken. It was taken on my first visit to Crete in 1990 on a SunMed rambling holiday. I think we set off from Koxare and walked via a mountain back to Plakias. I thought the photograph was taken in a village where we stopped at a Kafenion, but it could have been taken in Koxare as we were setting off. I remember the stop at the Kafenion was extended as bits of food kept arriving, including a sheep's head.

3. Is Barny's photograph in the Kyma Bar?

4. How about this one then?

That Raki was a christmas present!
Its now in my fridge and gradually dropping its level!
But today its good old cider from Morrissons! + the rain and cold and............

Just wish i had some photo's of my early years in Plakias, When Antonis had to hose the road down and we ate at Harakas every night, three courses and booze and still had change for a session every night in the Crazy Dolphin!!  I earned a lot less in those days but the drx went so far!
What happened?

Hello Mandy,

Hello Mandy,

You were typing this at the same time as I was sending you a personal message. Thanks for the info.

Others on the forum have said that if you include your E-Mail address in a posting you could be deluged with junk mail, so you may care to edit your message.

Harribobs,

I seem to have defeated everyone with this. Does the whole picture help?
