Absolutely no malice intended - its the humour that keeps me going and breaks the tedium of my days in this hell hole of an office - as for the knife and fork - well now I know where I have been going wrong.  Chris will tell you he took me off the shelf and dusted me down and I would be nowhere without him   Yeah right  - I'm sure he will elaborate if called upon to do so

Hostel's great, loads of really friendly ppl from all over the world that some how manage to find it, was full for part of the time we were there.  During the day tends to be more chilled out with ppl just hanging around the hostel chatting or sun bathing or heading down to the beach, it's basic but its really a case of what more do you want really.

Not sure about cocktails but the hostel has big mythos for just over €1 and Joe's does a white russian for €3 or an Ouzo for €2.

Never heard of Tolon, where is it?

Fav colour, used to say red but I'm changing my mind to green these days..

Afraid not no because it all goes on your tab which you pay off when you leave the hostel.  Of course if you talk to someone at the hostel there's a good chance you could put it on their tab

Might visit Tolon at some point but not this time as i'm only there for a week.  Keep on saying i'll have to go see a few other places while i'm there but never get around to it.  Might go for 3 weeks next year that'll give me plenty of time to go.

the only reason I asked was that I remember quite a few back packers in Tolon....although...you probably aren't a back packer...I  think I just assumed that from you staying in a hostel. Where else have you been to in Greece then?

I have just got back from my first time in Plakias, and i had a superb time, and will definately be returning. I am around your age (24), and didnt want to leave!!
The restaurants are superb, some of the best that i have been to!
Re: your question about costs..........it is really cheap......the average main meal is around 6 - 7 euros..........
a large Mythos (BEER   - large over there is more than a pint!!!!) is 2.50 euros......i ate out every lunch time and evening, and hardly spent a thing!!!!

I also stayed at the Costas -Chrysoulla, and it was spotless......was very impressed of the cleanliness of the rooms.........got a nice little bar whichs sells cocktails as well!!!!

A must is the 'Crete Bar-B-Q' held at the Costas-Chrysoulla......15 euros for as much food and wine as you like......as well as live crete music and dancing!!!!!

Each room has an air con unit, which costs 5 euros a day, and is DEFINATELY worth it!!!!!!

As for the wind........the first 4 days was gusty....the last 3 days was just a gentle breeze......

In the past I've sometimes been a bit disappointed with Kosmars trips.....like the fact you have to pick up people from miles away on a really long coach trip to get where you are going. Im going with Olympic this year, can you reccommend any trips worth going on or is it best just exploring yourself?

Hi Laura

We don't go by package so don't know about trips. If you go exploring yourself one of my favourite days out is Loutro. You drive west along the coast road through Selia, Rodakino onto Hora Safakia, the scenery is beautiful. At Hora Safakia you can enjoy breakfast & then catch the ferry to Loutro ( leaves at 10.30 ), Loutro itself can only be reached by boat or on foot & is a lovely peaceful whitewashed village ( like a toy village from the ferry ) with great Taverna's serving excellent lunches & lovely clear water. You have a choice of ferries on the return we normally catch the 4.15 meaning with drive we get back to Plakias by around 6.30pm. ( you need to leave Plakias arounnd 8am so not to be rushed, later if you don't have breakfast in Safakia ). Also there's never wind in Loutro!!

The one & only trip I have done is Samaria Gorge well worth it but it is a very long tiring day.

Imbros gorge we think much nicer and we do it twice each visit. Twice because we park at the bottom, walk up, have lunch at the top and then walk down. All easily done on a leisurely day from Plakias. The organised coach trips tend to make a day of it by visiting Frankocastello (not our favourite place) on the same trip.

If you are only staying 1 week then I would say that over and above the beach you have about 10 days at least things do do around Plakias. You can walk the two gorges which lead into Plakias, you can walk to Prevelli (All or part), walk to Rodakina or part way there (superb) Trips (mainly on foot) of interest and beauty in the immediate vicinity should keep you fully occupied for that period. I would leave the more distant trips for your return visit which is bound to happen and most likely over a longer duration.

Yes -i'd agree that the Imbros gorge is worth doing as it is so convenient to park at the bottom. Also - the gorge - Agios Antonios close to the Amari valley. here you park at the top so the walk back is uphill but it's not at long as the Imbros, very pretty and with a good, simple taverna close to where you park.
