Need further information... The question  may sound stupid, but what is the kretaeindom?

After so much destruction: What about a donation of a few olive-trees for the burnt areas? We could buy, plant and water till they are grown up and call it the PlakformsForest.

I'm probably going to be hated for this but what I always miss when I'm in Plakias is a good rock music club.  But then again could the place support another club, we saw what happened to Meltemi
What to do if you're trapped with no hope of rescue:...
Consider how lucky you are that life has been good to you so far. Alternatively, if life hasn't been good to you which is more likely given your current circumstances, consider how lucky you are that it won't be bothering you much longer!

Just stay tuned and wait till next year. I know that a top DJ from Rethymno is planning a "happening " item towards the FAR END.  More info as the plans get solidified.

Don't like the look of this and all the major sewer work along the beach road, even antonis has had to cut two meters of the front of his place.

Yes it's a shame as now it just looks a mess! Has any one been to the newly refurbished Finikas? It was due to open when we were there in June but in true Greek style in was not ready in time..

yes - not a patch on the meltemi in my opinion.  different atmosphere and music - or maybe i'm getting to old.  we only ever went a few nights and that was enough for me - we spent more time going between the ostraco, smerna and the beach bar

Been the last couple of weekends.  Had a great time.  It was mainly Greeks in there with a lot of greek music being played, which I now prefer.  Not sure what is like out of August, I know Meltemi got very 'Greek' at this time as well.

Guess where you're taking me on Saturday night Ali!
I certainly agree with you about Greek music, there is a really good current pop scene in Greece, which is great when you get into it - and when you can find the tunes!  Look for artists like Anna Vissi, Sakis Roubas etc.

I was in Finikas on its opening night a few years back - that was a great evening. Went in a few times after, but it was mainly full of drinkers, not dancers, and the atmosphere was totally different from Meltemi.

Now that it has no competition, I'm hoping it will really take off (and it's a shorter walk back my room!). By the way, any dancers are always welcome to warm up upstairs in Ostraco!
