Quite right.   It's shot from the top floor balcony at Manolia. As for the pegs, they definitely belong in the picture, even though they proved to weak to prevent the meltemi from taking off with a couple of towels. Thinking about it, the pegs should probably have been replaced by a glass or two containing cold Amstel, this is after all a beer tread.

that's pretty clever to recognise an apartments by the pegs

now that must be a product of good beer!  

Second point

I've been down in the south west over the last couple of days and have nothing good to report about the beer down there at all    

I am sure there must be few good uns hiding or is it all scrumpy?

 Scrumpy and all the other varieties.  The problem is that we have to go to a
 special British store to buy cider as it is not very popular here.  Cider is
 considered here as a drink for children. I must add that the cider on sale here is
 often this awfull stuff like cider with a peachy or strawberry flavour. Really
 horrible !

the stuff i've had was cloudy, not sweet at all but very very strong, i'd guess at around 10% but as it was made on a farm, there was no way of knowing...except by the effect!      

i wouldn't be giving it to children!

Can't say its my favourite drink although I did stick with Addlestones (a cloudy strong cider, not quite scrumpy though) for a while at Uni, a state of inebriation occurs rather quickly and cheaply, perfect for a student

Good old scrumpy, being a West Country lad I've had lashings of the stuff.

It's a rough string cider Tom, more usually made by farmers than brewers

Thanks.  The norwegian word "skrump" probably has the same root and means shrunken or shrink. Paired with liver it means cirrhosis of the liver.    Scary association for a cider.

that made me think of Belguim's Rodenbach beer, which has an 'unusual' flavour and an aquired taste

I'm new to this forum.  Spent 7 days in Pefkos Rhodes in September.  I found Mythos really refreshing at lunchtime in the beach cafe, but I preferred Amstel in the evenings, not sure why, seemed a bit smoother.  I thought it was Belgian?

Funny how I enjoy lager in Greece, because I can't stand it in England, I'm a real ale man.  Must be the heat.

i now know that Amstel was originally a Dutch beer, but i'm pretty sure the greek version is made in greece

Pefkos is just over the headland from Lindos ,IIRC
