Nudist beaches

we used to visit Ag Pav regularly but a couple of years ago there was a rock fall which reduced one of the nudist spots to a few square yards - we *have* been back since but in ech case the Ag Pav yogis have (not unreasonably) been using it but mainly tex not nudist and its all a bit squashed

There is also Souda Beach which is a couple of kilometres to the west of Plakias. It is pebbly but quieter than Plakias. There are a couple of excellent taverna's for lunch or a cold drink, worth at least one visit. If you don't have a car it will take about 30 mins to walk or you can take a taxi and they will arrange to pick you up for the return journey.

I had my lunch at the paligremnos yesterday, you'll love it there, maybe a little quiet in the evenings but you can walk into town in 10 or so minutes

You are so lucky now because already at Plakias.
I tried to reserv an accomodation near the beach but not so loud at evening and night.
A nudist beach is extra for me.
I hope very soon i will enjoy that place too.

Oh, dear.  And I was planning to visit Souda this year.  Looks like I'll have to do my "clothes-optional" exploration in an easterly direction.

It isn't looking good but I wouldn't entirely give up. When I was there last month it was very sparsely populated. Just a couple of people at the east end were "au naturel". But it only takes a few to set a trend that will discourage those not of that persuasion.

10 years ago it was mainly naturist, but the tarmacing of the road from Plakias must have meant more people using Souda.

However, the east end of Plakias beach is still truly clothes optional, with neither the clothed nor the unclothed being bothered by the others.

Ditto the two coves just east of Damnoni where it looked as if swimming costumes were as rare as rocking horse droppings.

Until now, I've referred to the larger of these two beaches in harribob's last post as Micro Amoudibut I see that on the website for the Manolia apartments it's called Amoudaki. Does anyone know whether this is its correct name?

i was told amoudaki and micro amoudaki but i find it changing everything i talk to different people

according to capn barefoot the larger of the two coves is refered to locally as the bay of pigs, i can understand why especially in high summer

The translation of Mikro Amoudi and Amoudaki is the same thing: "Small Amoudi", so the two names mean the same thing and probably are both used. I like the photograph of it as there seem to be no ranks of umbrellas. I hope that it's still like that when I arrive around about the 21st June (I am working on Greek time!)

That's true, but there seem to be an awful lot of bodies around.  (Is it like that in the low season i.e. September?)  Hmm.  Maybe I'll just stick to the "far end" where I know it won't be crowded.
