Although not liking the beach, the palms were a joy to walk through. As they were so established, I imagine it will take many years to return to something like it was. Very sad.

I couldn't agree more (with all of your points)!

The article here "suggests" that there were 4 fires started implying arson

Eventually 70% of palm trees Preveli Rethymnon burned completely ...

The irony is that there was a fire detection system which covered the forest Prevelis but not operated since May!

The stations were on fire Preveli Messara, forest of Rouvas, Jiouktas, Port Heraklion Center Business District.

These pillars, however - 28 total - depend on one another and in the forest of Rouvas Heraklion had been stolen by two pillars, important pieces of the system, thereby stopping the transmission of all the pillars.

The replacement of parts cost over 60,000 euros and it does not happen, the system did not work!

Indeed, did the pilot program is EUR 1.195 million and now is research to examine the responsibilities!

And most importantly??? The fire department was informed of the fire system installation, afterwards, ie after having been fitted. And certainly not to ask!

Certainly there has always been disorganization and poor cooperation between institutions in our country.

But here, the issue of fire in this historic forest, all have responsibility.

Even the dead branches that were in the woods, and no service for cleaning ... responsible State as a whole!

Indeed, we blame the citizens there are volunteering to help wherever we can. I say this because he had set a date for cleaning the palm trees on the 20th but was canceled because there was no involvement ... but the fire''cleared''everything!
