BTW  Why are the tree's painted white on the lower trunk, just curious  



Many years ago I have heard it is a protection against the sun during the winter and spring,
because the bark of the trees can dry out. It avoids damages on the tree trunk and
the bark of the trees shall be protected.

I have no other idea because I am not gardener.

The answer to the question why the tree trunks are white- It is to protect the trees from insects ,bugs, etc.

Just a quick update- All of you will be surprised with the new sidewalks as you enter Plakias. They are of the same design as those in Rethymno. Those establishements who built beyond their boundries thinking a city plan would never be enacted have learned a hard lesson- This is particularly noticable at the beginning of town- The camping ground front entrance at the street is gone- The parking lot in front of the supermarket is gone and they are now creating a road to the west of the store which leads to the new parking lot in the back of the store. The sidewalk currently starts at the small church, but eventually will continue to the fork where you go to Plakias or Myrhtios. Great improvements.

That is a lovely HDR photo - New York definitely - maybe Wall Street.

Which programme do you use, as there is a selection? I tried one, but it could have been better.

Envious, but consoling myself that we'll be out in September. Do you prefer the lighter evenings you get this time of year? Personally, we prefer September so it's not quite so hot during the main part of the day.

I don't mind the heat in the day, I spend most of the day on the beach with a two hour break at Antonis place. As far as the evenings go the lighter the better for me, I usually go out at about seven ish and wander around enjoying the views, then its find somewhere to eat and end up at Pavlos's having a few beers 'till about 23:00 or later
