Plakias / Our booking has been cancelled - now what?

No problem, you can go to Plakias and you will find anyway a room. I know Lyvicon hotel owners, they have also Morpheas and Lysvos. You can ask a room to them in Lyvicon or in the market under Morpheas (they are near the bus station) and they will find what you need.

Ciao Alex, sono quasi venti anni che vado a Plakias. Per quanto riguarda l'Hexagon, sono due o tre anni che non c'è più; due anni fa aveva aveva cambiato nome e l'anno scorso era chiuso, ma non si sa mai, forse lo hanno riaperto. Per quanto riguarda la strada che va da Plakias a Rethimno di notte, non ci sono problemi se stai attento specialmente alle altre auto perchè a quell'ora non c'è molto traffico, ma per questo alcuni guidatori del posto potrebbero diventare un pericolo perchè alcune volte bevono qualche bicchiere in più del dovuto (il ragazzo che gestiva l'Hexagon 4 o 5 anni fa è morto in un incidente su quelle strade, di notte). Contattami pure per qualsiasi informazione su Plakias o Creta, o anche altri posti della Grecia.

If you like a very beautiful beach where there are only few people, almost all from Greece, you should try Rodakino, about 12 Km from Plakias in direction of Sellia. If you will rent a car to go there you will remember the wonderful views from the road. When you arrive in Rodakino go down to the sea and when you will be at the sea go right until the end of the road (about 1 km). There there is also a very good restaurant, Virgin Mary, if you go there try octopus salad !!!!!!!!

Hello, are already 3 or 4 years that I have heard that Meltemi will be closed and there will be built a big residence or hotel. I have spoken with people of Plakias and they said that the owners of the land where is built Meltemi (probably the Alianthos owners) have no so much money to spend and maybe it would not be a good business too for them. But anyway, every year passes I see Meltemi always more empty.

Plakias / Supermarket and bakery

I gather from doing a search that there is a bakery next to a supermarket (the main supermarket or one of several?). Could one of the regular visitors please enlighten me as to their location (if someone has a map to mark it on that would be even better).

Thanks Pritch for replying!  When I worked in Plakias in '99 they held a mini concert outside what was then the 'Underground' bar  (doesn't matter where you go you can never escape London!!   ) anyway I thought it was great, Hundreds of Greeks packed the square that night with another celebration up in Selia after the main Plakias one had finished- it was an all night goer!!  
 Another question though, is the cliffside near Selia  still lit up at night?

I like the little hotels of the family of the Livicon Hotel. They are the Livicon, Morpheas rent rooms and Lifvos. They are all on the beach, clean and the family is very friendly and an example of what could be a happy life. Bye, Max

Plakias / Airport Taxi Transfer

Hello, last year I have taken the taxi from Iraklion airport to Plakias and from Plakias to Iraklion airport and the price was almost the same, about 70 euro.
For the taxi you can ask at Lyvicon Hotel, near the bus stop. They are very gentle people and they know all the taxi drivers of Plakias.
