How did the bridge clue lead you to the answer?

Google "bridge dated to the Hellenistic period " and "crete" will do it I think

The place looks interesting. We'll make a note to visit next year.

I googled 'bridge hellenistic crete' and after looking at a couple of sites I found a photograph of the bridge.

It's at a place called Eleutherna.

Isn't Google fabulous!
I didn't realise I was giving that good a clue!

Eleutherna is correct, although the sign on-site has a different translation...

The place looks interesting. We'll make a note to visit next year.

It's an interesting site and it's big too, on both sides of a narrow central ridge.
Here is a link to the Wikipedia entry and here one to some information about the site published in Kathimerini.

We could find little information about it on the day we visited since the site was closed.
The following picture is of a defensive tower built on the central ridge.
If anyone knows the reason for the grid in the foreground I'd like to hear about it.
My guess is some kind of water system or perhaps fish tanks.

'Eleftherna' would be a better phonetic rendering of the Greek, with the accent on 'ef'.

Hello, anyone out there?

How about this, everyone will recognise this, but across the road from what establishment is it? (easy peasy)

and

What/Who does it remind you of?

(Pete knows what I think so he can make up his own answer).

[attachment=544:Quiz_Pic.JPG]

If anyone guesses what/who I think this is, you win a prize of buying me a drink next year

I like Don King! You're going along the right line of thought though.
No it's not Antoni's and unfortunately I can't prove where this is, so you will all have to take my word for it.

Don't know him G&K, never seen the prog.

My thoughts are definately 'human'

It's not a catch the tree is in Plakias... somewhere on the front, the sea is a clue.

I tried to insert an image of Sideshow Bob by copying and pasting but although it appears in the editing window, it isn't in the final post. Can anyone tell me how to insert images from a file rather than from a website. Thanks.

The beach isn't visible so I would guess it's close to the harbour end of town.

1. Hit the 'Browse' button to find the file that you want
2. Select it and hit the 'Upload' button.
3. When that's done, the file can be found in the 'Manage Current Attachments'
4. Just hit it and it will (he says) be inserted into the message.

'Harbour end of the bay' in the town
