As you say its easy, I hope it's Frangokastello. Never too sure what to make of this place, always seems a bit like a ghost town. Empty tavernas and no atmosphere. Maybe it was just us!

I think we would agree there - we were lucky enough to visit when it was deserted (a coach load arrived just as we left) but still felt it lacked atmosphere.   Fortunately, we hadn't made a special trip to go there - the Imbros gorge was the main reason for the drive.

Got a nice beach though! And the first bar you come to opposite the castle is nice inside. The last time I was in there it looked like they were building some shops around the outside.

Were all going to look a bit silly if this isn't Frankocastello.

No..you're right it's  err Frankocastello

i've only ever stayed there for a night, we arrived after a long walk from Plakias and promptly got ripped off from that big taverna on the right (Kreta or summat)

we found some nice apartments across the road (Artemis IIRC) and spent a pleasant enough evening there)

Looks to me like a perfect example of what can happen when the water company neglects to repair a burst main.

Think you're right. Looks interesting though. Is it on the north Coast?

yes......although, you are actually looking north in this photo

(i might have to drag this one out, i'm running out of Crete)

If you are on the north coast but this photo is facing north, is it in the Souda bay area? I can't think of anywhere else on the north coast which faces south.

Was just about to post my quid, but then remembered global warming. Sorry!

However Channel 4's programme  (The Great Global Warming Swindle) questioning the current view points certainly made you think.
