Just booked my flight!
The 21 September from Verona to Chania (argh! a long travel, but I'll land about 11.00, so I will have time to find the road).

Now I'm counting down the days... -14

When you get to Matala make sure to go to the taverna perched on the top of the rocks to the east of the bay. It is run by wonderful people, they always seem to have something 'etoimo' that the whole family eats and is absolutely delicious. And as if that weren't enough they have a terrace overlooking the sea that gives you the most fantastic view of the sunset
You lucky, lucky thing

For the moment I have still to decide...
I think I will book a room for the first 2 nights from Italy, then when I will be there I'll decide to keep it or to change if I don't like it...
Also I can stay in the nearess of Matala, as I've seen this very good positioned studios:
http://www.kiknos.com/
they also seems pretty
Thank you again dear for the precious advices you gave me for Plakias accomodation!
For those ones I'll choose when I'll be in Plakias, so I can also see the rooms

No, not strectly. We are free to go around and think that Matala is about 10 minutes from that place...
Otherwise, after the first 2 nights, we'll move to Matala.
And then, the second week.... you know

the beach behind mandy is kommos but you can see kalamaki a bit further up the coast

Want to thank all of you, even those who haven't directly answered to my topics, for the tips you gave me.
I'll be very glad to meet some of you in Plakias, and the others here in forum again.
Cheers
Ale

The beach certainly does look very interesting.  Do you know if any part of is clothes-optional?
