I was told they need 6000 trucks of rocks, stones and dirt.

Somebody mentioned earlier that everything would be brought in from the seaside... That means a lot of traffic past ostraco...
Which size has this "network of roads"? Happy we have made it to Plakias this year before all of this developments started... Quo vadis Plakias?

The 'network' involves 2 roads running parallel with the beach road, the upgrading of the road from Paligremnos up to the school and about another 10 off shoots from these roads.

Work on Plakias Panorama has now started.

reminds me on an illustration I photoshopped for an earlier thread...

Does it meet the real dimensions?

Seems the "development of Plakias is exploding now...

I think this development is pure speculation, I spent ages searching on the internet for this and could only find it on the Properties in Greece web site.  The 'town plan' has been in the public domain for the last 15 years and apparently when KretaEiendon (Plakias Panorama) were looking to move down here they assumed all the roads were already there.  This development which appears to be only apartments is based on the plans and is not going to happen.  I've been told it will more likely be a couple of hotels (Grecotel being one) and then more housing.

It's a really shame it's being developed but the local community do need more money coming in for them to survive.

Ali-
Since you live in Plakias, why don't you go to the construction site of the Limani, take a few pictures and post them-

Santa, could you look at
the forum map and tell us if we've put the new harbour pin in the right place?

Hello Santa,

Am I right in thinking this is just an improvement on the current harbour in Plakias (i.e. a few tourist boats and local fishermen)? It seems a fair way out of town especially knowing many people's reluctance to walk.

I wonder if it means Plakias will be added to the ferry route running from Paleohora to Hora Sfakion. That would be an asset.

I think it's a bit far out of town Mike to incorporate the ferry, but agree it would be an asset.

I understood that it was being built primarily as a safe haven for local fishing boats (not just those immediately local to Plakias). The existing harbour is not an all weather safe haven.

It will probably also encourage other useage.
