iam  starting  here in the forum today,
we  will come to plakias/damnoni  in may (8.5 -22.5) we have been in plakias 2 times before 1998 und 2002 but always in october or november. I look for some informations about the weather(clothing.

But at first i am looking for someone in plakias who gives some wishes from me to ZAK Zourbakis, who will do the transfer with his mercedes taxi.

Hi Formimam, We also will be in Plakias in May No-one can promise the weather but last time we were there in May The weather was good. Summer clothing plus a jacket for (maybe) some evenings. There may be a wind somedays   (good for walking) a little shower of rain  :'(  others or we may be lucky and have non stop sunshine  . Whatever, enjoy.

Hello Hartmut,

I regularly go to Greece at this time of year, including Plakias. Day temperatures are mid to high 20s Celsius, could be higher. You can't guarantee not to have some rain but not much. Dotty is right that the evenings can be coolish. Some take jackets; I normally take a light sweater but you may not need to wear it much. The sea is fine for me but cool for others.

There are advantages in going in May; one of the main ones is you miss the main windy season (Meltemi) although Plakias is rarely windless. Other benefits are seats on buses, less crowded tavernas, few children, and less people in general.

Don't be fooled though by the pleasant temperatures. The sun is high in the sky and you can burn VERY easily. Weather is good for walking and many flowers are in bloom.

hi mike and hi dotty,
we habe been till now 2 times in Plakias,  fist in march 1998 - we had mostly cold and windy weahter 3 days with snow!!
second in november 2000, we had 27-30 degress and 24 ° water temperature.( too hot for this time)
But in both times the most  bars and restaurants were closed.

Now we will see, what in may happens, i think a new alternative: not to hot, good for walking and  i hope also ready for swimming - and plakias has completely opened?

Dear Hartmut- I just left Plakias and I can tell you things are looking up. There is much activity and everyone is fixing up. painting, etc. Many restaurants are opening. When you get to Plakias there will be many people and a lot of activity.

Hi Formimam,

It sounds to me like you will see a very different Plakias as Santa say's everything should be up and running  . What we like about that time everything is fresh and not too busy. We will be there the same time as you so may bump into each other.
