Ifigenia Apartments?
« on: February 17, 2006, 03:44:24 PM »
We're a family of 2 adults and 2 kids (10 & 8yrs), planning to spend two weeks in Crete one of which will be a week in Plakias / Mirthios, first week of Jun06.

I am looking at Ifigenia Apartments or Fedra Apartments as possibilities.  Both (I think...) have 2 bed apts available.

But although I have seen a couple of positive / mellow comments about Ifigenia on this forum - they are dated a couple of years back.

Has anyone got positive comments from a visit/stay last Summer?
I found a bad report about Ifigenia on this site:
http://www.romanvirdi.com/crete/imbros-pla...reveli-23-8.htm
This guy toured around Crete last August and was really unhappy with the apartments and the owner...
Can anyone add any positive (or negative) comments to supplement this?
Thanks if you can help me out!

Thanks! It's a great forum and site - I love it!

The Ifigenia apartments are on the road between Plakias & Damnon (Plakias beach about 700mtrs & Damnoni 500mtrs)... the Fedra Apts are about 400mtrs from the (naturist) end of Plakias beach on the road out of town towards Mirthios I think...

To be honest, unless someone on the forum has outstanding rave reviews of Ifigenia, I think I won't take the risk!
It would be upsetting to turn up to your hard-earned holiday accomodation and find the apartment is dirty and the owner gruff and unfriendly...especially when there are so many other choices of accomodation around.... maybe I'll just choose somewhere else!
We stayed in Plakias for 2 weeks in May 2001 and loved it - but also fell in love with Mirthios... so I might try that village instread.

i thought i knew the name but couldn't place them....but i've probably walked by them loads of times  ( going to lefkoyia)

the only downside is that you'd be quite some way from the tavernas

and  as this forum does have an alcoholic element    that might be an advantage

Hi

We have never stay at Ifigenia, but we have stayed to the place right next door Oasis. I would highly recommend it. We have been going there for the last 8 years. They have an apartment with 2 rooms very spacious. We stay with our 2 children who are now 13 and 15. They also have a lovely swimming pool at Oasis, which the children will love. Nikos and Maria who own Oasis are very friendly and helpful. They also  have a bar and serve food.

Where ever you stay I am sure you and your family will have a lovely time, we are back at Oasis in October!

Sarah

He also gives the thumbs-down to the Christos restaurant which has been recommended to me by a forum member but which I intend to try out this year  nevertheless.

Thanks to everyone who replied with helpful ideas & suggestions.

I've booked an apartment in Mirthios... "Chrisanthi" - so we are sorted out with a fantastic view of Plakias - and a dark & dangerous scramble down the hill to go out for dinner at night... he he...
Don't care 'though - my holiday is booked and I can't wait....
