Anyone know of a hotel in P called the Alianthos, and if so would they recommend it ?
Also, not having been in P before how feasible is it to drive to Agios Pavlos ?

Thanks all

Alianthos is the biggest hotel at the east end of Plakias - many on this forum have used it - not myself.  Others will reply with recommendations.

There are two Agios Pavlos. The one nearest Plakias - near Aghia Galini is not a long drive from Plakias. The other one near Agia Roumelei (bottom of Samaria Gorge) is reachable only by boat from Hora Sfakia to Agia Roumeli and then an hours walk - all in all a longish way from Plakias. Or a long walk from Loutro - again accessed via boat.

Hi, I have used the Alianthos Garden hotel for years now and would highly reccomend it. close to the shops and beach, good friendly staff and good choice of drinks! clean rooms and always plenty of hot water!

Fancy a Mythos?

Hi Nero
We stayed at the Alianthos Beach Hotel every year from 1996 to 2004 (didn't make it to Plakias last year!). and we like it!
The first two years we travelled with First Choice and the rooms we had were at the back of the hotel looking up the alley towards what was then the Crazy Dolphin.  Subsequent years we travelled independently, booking direct with the Alianthos, and from then on we got a room at the front overlooking the beach.  We found all the staff to be very helpful and very friendly, in fact going back year after year, you get to be treated more like old friends.  The rooms fairly standard and are cleaned every day, towels are changed every day and bed linen every couple of days.  The rooms have a fridge and TV (for those who can't live without) but not much in the way of English speaking channels.
Hope this helps.
Jan

There are two different Alianthos hotels : Alianthos Beach ( Cheaper and more basic) and next door to it Alianthos Garden : more luxury. Both hotels share the same (small) pool. We stayed at Al. Beach and liked it. It s really very close to the sea. One thing: the bathroom s are very small

I would endorse everything that Jan has to say about the Alianthos Beach. We have been going there for years and years.  Here is their website which may help you.
