Birds Custard
« on: April 20, 2005, 07:56:47 PM »
Over the last 5 years we have got to know a girl from England named Gina who lives in Plakias and now (hopefully still) runs a taverna (can't remeber the name - last one on the left before Apollo and Ariadne appartments).

She is well known around the village (large dusky and very loud with a heart of gold). She looks after about 15 of the "Holiday cats" over the winter  .

One of her speciality dishes is Apple & Rhubarb crumble, but her big problem is NO BIRDS CUSTARD POWDER

If anyone is visiting this year (unfortunately we may not be) and knows her or would like to gain a new friend  , we are sure she would really appreciate a few packets of custard powder. Ideal for transporting because it is light!

If this kind person could also pass on our love   (from Jan and Roland) it would be much appreciated.

We've known Gina for a couple of years now and met up with her a few weeks ago. It seems the taverna business was not a success and she was very disillusioned with the place. The day before we left she shouted up that she had had enough and was about to leave for another island.

We would help anyone in Plakias, but these requests are risky. Remember the 'beer mat' scenario at the Kyma?
They're now supplying all the pubs in the UK, or could do!!

The beer mats !    how could i forget!  i sent 1000 over and took at least 200 with me! and i am sure Pavlos was trading them for crates of Mythos! I wonder how many he got in the end?

Sorry to hear that. We know she had a few spats with the taverna owner and his girlfriend(s), so not a total surprise. Probably not the best place to be stuck in winter with no money and no work, guess we normally just see the best of life out there.

You'll be pleased to know that Gina is still in Plakias.  She has managed to find a couple of part time jobs and I am sure would love some custard powder if anyone is coming over but not 1000's or we may have to have a custard party next winter!!
