Hi All
I took this picture at Heraklion as there were so many people asking for some information. Hope it helps.

Does this mean we have to pay twice?

Good Picture (tidied a little to save space)
Yes we paid 75 Heraklion -> Plakias (70 + 5 surcharge for 5am pickup) and 70 for Plakias -> Heraklion (2am but no surcharge)

Sorry John your comment will no longer make sense

This makes me realise what a good deal I got this year in hiring a car from Caravel.  I had a Fiat Seicento (admittedly not the smartest or most powerful car on the road) for 240 Euro for the fortnight.  If you allow for the taxi fare that I would otherwise have incurred, the car in effect cost me 100 Euro  - equivalent to £5 a day!  At that sort of price it doesn't really matter if you don't use it every day but it proved its worth this year by giving us a wind free way of getting to micro Amoudi.

It only makes sense for a day time flight though - I would not have been keen on driving from Heraklion to Plakias in the early hours of the morning!

That's OK Ploppy.  You can delete it now.  And this one!

Just got back today after 2 super weeks in Plakias. We hired a car from Caravel and they were super efficient, delivering ot to/from Stella Pension.

Next year we will need it to drive to/from Heraklion airport - early hours of morning. I'm quite happy to drive at that time - I know the way and the roads and they are much quieter then
