Barny, I assume you've been enquiring by email and received no reply?
That was my first method and I got no replies.

So I rang the agent and asked.
He says he's not replying to enquiries because he knows no more than is on the website.
It seems that the developer (in Athens) has not yet set anything in motion apart from appointing the agent and giving him the plans that are shown on the website.
No dates have been set for finishing or even starting the development.
I have my doubts that they have done anything more than that.
The website appears to be just a 'fishing' exercise to find out if there is any demand.

The agent is also pushing a site at Melame, west of Hania, which he says will be completed in 16 months.
He sent me a brochure but it is sorely lacking in detail.
Sound familiar?
Caveat emptor (Let the buyer beware) might be useful advice in my opinion.

Lets hope it is just a fishing exercise and no one takes the bait!  At least with no firm starting date set we can hopefully enjoy a few more years of bliss. I for one hope the whole thing goes belly up!!!  Thanks for the info please let me know if you find out more.

Has anyone news about this subject?
Has work started...

Being abscent last year [Nice trip to Cres / Croatia with kids and microbus] we think about destinations for our summervacation and - as you might guess -we would like to go to Plakias in July. Our fear is that it might not be so nice to share the place with all those noise, bulldozers and caterpillars. We would be very sorry to look for an other place but in this case we consider to go to Lentas or Loutro. Has anyone been there and can share experiences about ? [It sounds a little bit perverted as I read this words. Just like: Plakias destructed! - next one, please   ]

So far the 2005 prayer...
yours sincerely

shinaria [k.a. the romantic armchair-rainbow-warrior]

Have a good time!

Shinaria,

I have experienced Lentas and have seen Loutro so I will tell you what I know about them. Lentas (or Lendas) is a lot lot quieter and smaller than Plakias and more isolated. There are only about 5 or 6 small tavernas (without menus - they tell you what they have cooked today) and a couple of quiet bars in the village. It has a small beach. There are a few places with rooms, but no hotels or apartments with swimming pools.

There is a larger beach over a small headland. This is where the 'far-enders' go. There is camping on the beach and there is a taverna and a small amount of accommodation there.

There is one road out of Lendas that goes over the top of some hills before coming to any other civilisation. There is one bus a day from Iraklion, and it leaves Lendas at 06:30!

I've never stayed in Loutro but I've see it from boats. It is a very pretty village which can only reach by boat - there are no roads. There is only a small beach right in front of the buildings. I think you can walk to Sweetwater beach but it probably takes an hour - this is a "far ender"'s beach.

For something more like Plakias than either of these places, try Matala.

Greecemad.

Hallo Greecemad,
thank you very much for your reply! Sounds nice.  Does anybody know if there is a doc or a drugstore in Lendas [With our two little sons we were sometimes grateful to have them in plakias...]

Thanks

Shinaria,

There isn't a Pharmacy in Lendas - I think there was only one or two shops when I was there. It's very unlikely there's a doc as it's too small.

Dear Community,
here is my twomonthly-news-about-the-new-buildings-request...
Has anybody noticed something going on there? Is the Meltemi still existing? Whatabout the "far End"? Is it "NO TOPLESS SWIMMING HERE"now? [ and how is to practise to enter the sea without head?] Strange things indeed...!

Hope we will meet plakias as it was in July if we succeed in trevelling the way down there with our old microbus....

Greeceings
