On the general subject of where to stay, we're just back from a week at the Limani apartments, beside the Cretan goods shop behind Ostraco, and they were fine. Spacious, clean, well-equipped. Not much in the way of sunshine on the balconies in the evening but it was a fine excuse for lingering in the Candia coffee shop for another latte and baklava. And Limani guests get 10% discount in the shop, which is always handy! And Sofia in the shop is a sweetheart.

Yes ... good shop ... excellent walking maps sold there

Haven't eaten in Candia for a few years now since the owner (tall handsome s***) treated us to a floorshow of him giving his bitch a good kicking for getting out of his pick-up without waiting to be whistled
Lost me appetite

We stayed at The Alianthos Beach Hotel and thought it was a great place. Suprised no one has mentioned it.

Clean - excellent position - good food - friendly staff and the Cretan night was excellent.

Plus, and this may offer some answer to other threads, Joseph (the hotel owner) was offering to sort out the transfers from the airport for next year if we book direct - he must have been aware of the First Choice decision.

HTH
Mick (missing Raki and Mythos and erm erm - i know there's smonething else!!! oh yeah sun!)
