A week to go, really looking forward to it.

What kind of prices are we looking at for a decent meal, to the all essential beer?

Recomendations on good food places would be helpful as well.

many thanks

2 and a bit weeks to go for me and I'm just as excited.

We have found for the last couple of years that a meal consisting of a starter and main course each plus a litre of house red wine would come to between 15 and 20 pounds for the two of us. If you have the more expensive fish items or coffee and liquers etc this will add more. So all in all a bargain.

As for beer, this is not such a bargain. I've ordered so many and I can't remember the price    Think it was 3.50 euros or was it 4? for a pint-ish sized Mythos (prevalent Greek lager) or Amstel (prevelant Dutch import, I say import but probably brewed in Greece. Why Amstel? Dunno). Also varies of course from bar to bar although not by too much.

As for where to eat, try having a look at [a href=\"http://forums.plakias.co.uk/index.php?PHPSESSID=8d255fd09e2432dc0ca84a3378a13a6f&showtopic=194]this topic.[/url] There was some good discussion there.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Paul

In fact he was pretty scathing about the general standard of cuisine in Plakias.  He even mentions Immodium!  This is at odds with what everyone else has written, but now I'm worried nevertheless.

Hi Noopsy,

Don't worry! I've not had a problem with any of the restaurants, whilst they may not get 4 star Michelin ratings I have been more than happy (admittedly I'm pretty easily pleased!). Yes the Medousa menu is quite varied and some others follow the same vein but there are plenty that stick to a purer Greek menu.
Definately have not needed immodium (unlike here in the US but thats not a story for here   )
If you have any specific questions about places you have read about please ask away.

Cheers,

Ploppy

Thanks, Ploppy.  I love Greek cuisine     having sampled it many times in Cyprus, here and elsewhere, and have never had a bad reaction.  If it's anything like that in Plakias I'll be O.K.  (Not long to go now!    )
