Soudha beach
« on: July 12, 2004, 12:57:42 PM »
I have noticed in an old posting by Susan K a comment that if the new beach bar encroached too much on the naturist area at the far end of Plakias by attracting more textiles to that part of the beach - a fear subsequently and thankfully that is not valid - then she would decamp to Soudha beach , with the inference that Soudha beach is fine for naturism .that is not my experience for many years though it may be significant that I always go to Plakias in august and so more poeple around may mean less scope for naturist . My experience has been very few people baring all at soudha beach and many textiles constantly walking along the beach
I would though be interested to hear the experience of other people
But it would take a lot to draw me away from the 90% naturist beach around the headland at Damnoni , especially now the train goes to and from damnoni and there is an easy walk around the headland

Hi Roger

Yes, I believe that was me that said that. Just to clarify, Souda beach is much like Plakias in that there is a clear divide. One half textiles the other for nudies like me. Not everyone on the nudie bit decides to bare all, some wear bathing suits and they don't seem to mind seeing a bit of bare flesh. It is the bit of beach furthest away from the taverna's. We have been going to Souda for the odd day for quite a few years now and I doubt very much that people have been banned from going naked since we were last there!

Hope that helps

Susan

Thanks susan
I dont think that there is any ban on baring all on soudha - just that hardly anyone does . Last year when I went there , there were only at most four other people nude and none of them stayed long .There were aloot of textiles walking past and though no one said anything ,I felt a bit out of place . Perhaps it is different in august - which part of the year do you normally go ?
Might give it another try this year esp now that the train goes there some days - so
saving the long walk - but Damnoni gets my vote for most days with a few days at the far end of plakias beach

[attachment=11:attachment]The little beach at Damnoni always was good for that sort of thing. In 1977 the rock in the middle of that bay was still upright.

We went to Souda once last year and stripped off - intending to set a trend - not difficult when there's only us and one other couple on the beach! (the wather was grim that morning) We were at the first part of the beach you reach, walking from Plakias - is that the end that is traditionally naturist?
