Winter Hybernation

Has everybody gone into hybernation, hardly any news for weeks now. I presume you all think about father Xmas now. However here in Australia its almost summer and we think about beaches, sun and surf. Is anybody in Plakias now, skiing ?

Hi Hopper,yes it looks like everyone has gone into hybernation,unlike you southerners we are now into the cold ,frosty mornings.don t think anyone will be ski ing but I,ll let you know.We will be going out to Plakias on the 19th to spend xmas there,hope to see some sun but we don,t really care as we Know we will have a great time.Will drink your health on the beach do the same for us,have a great xmas, regards Ken & Kathy

having enjoyed a few Christmas' in the Southern Hemisphere, I know you still enjoy the beer cold on Christmas Day !
You don't say whether your English or an Aussie, but hope you enjoyed the other weekend as am sure most of us did (even though I've no finger nails left and little recollection about the rest of that weekend !!!).
Let me tell you, texting your mates in Crete with match updates was pretty surreal, but such is modern technology (bloody sore on the fingers though...)

Will be heading out Crete way again next year, but no decision as to whether we will stay in Plak this time, may seek pastures and adventures new. Nothing against Plak as love it, but friends have sussed some new places which look as good.

If I don't post again, would wish ALL Members a very Happy, Safe and enjoyable Christmas, and that your wishes and dreams happen in the New Year.

You know its only 19 days to the shortest day, which means Spring and Holiday time is not far away.........

Hi Pilch,
actually I am German by birth, but I admit I'm biased. Yes, I was glued to the screen as well. This was a very exciting game. The Aussies had trouble coming to terms with Jonny Wilkinson. "Jonny W...face" one of my collegues just called him. They are such good sports.  
Well if you find anything better than Plakias, I like to know, cause I never did - and I looked. Here in Western Australia is a place called Margeret River, where there is a beautiful beach and a Greek chapel called Preveli. (Yes it is named after the place in Krete). That is probably the closest you get to Plakias (beach-wise). Better surf in WA so.

I am Austrian and my Daughter spent a few Days at Kitzbühel with Skiing. I prefer to relax at home in the wintertime.

I didn't know about the new monument at Prevelli but have made a mental note to go and see it next September.

We last went to the monastery in the late 90s and I got very upset with some Germans who were taking photographs there.
Not because they were German, but given the history of the place it didn't help.

Compage, I think with enthusiastic photographers it's always the same whether they are Germans or Japanese or someone else. They want to take pictures and even it threatens their life, they will take risk. It is an obsession.

I saw the new monument in September 2002, but as Austrian I prefer to make no comment. But I hope this sad times of the 30s and 40s will never return.
