Travellers cheques
« on: June 16, 2016, 08:48:50 PM »
Now I know they are not used much any more but I have £500 worth hanging around and want to use them this year

Are there any travel agents which change them Banks that do in Plakias?

I'd like to know too.  I am going to take mine to my UK bank to cash, but if I can use them in Plakias then that would be better.

Not sure about Plakias, there are no banks but many years ago the Lamon used to change them as did Alianthos Beach?
Maybe the post orifice will?

Post offices in Greece have not changed TC's for many years.

Are Lamon and Alianthos Beach travel agents/exchange/ car hire places?

Alianthos Hotel does currency exchange. A few years ago we took Scottish notes in to be changed and they had to phone a bank to check they were real! As they are an exchange, they may well do your travellers cheques.

We used to cash them at Alianthos Car Hire or one of the other car hire outlets (perhaps Monsa) but it may also be possible at the tour shop on the seafront (Anthos ?).. I am sure you'll find someone who can help.

Hi, I asked Alison who runs one of the supermarkets. They will only cash them in 'high season' which, apparently, is not yet......so it looks as though it might be hit or miss. Hopefully the big hotels will be able to help.

I've been able to change mine at the car hire place (I can't remember the name) on the seafront next to the road leading to the "Medousa"  without any problems.
