Lampyland
« on: July 12, 2013, 03:54:30 PM »
This is an open letter to all members and guests.
The member Lampyland has been quiet for over ten days and I suspect he is back in hospital. He has been seriously ill for some time.
The one thing that is inspiring about Lampyland is his love, not just of Plakias, but of Crete itself. He grew up on the island and whilst he now lives in Wales his heart is with the mountains, forests and beaches of Crete.
Lampyland is the best thing about Plakias Forum. He stands head and shoulders above the rest of us. So please everyone can you do more than just wish him well. When you are on holiday in Plakias set aside one day for Lampyland. Tempting as it is to spend every day on the beach, why not one day go and explore some of Lampyland’s beloved Crete. You won’t regret it.

Sorry to hear that he is so unwell.
We will be going to Plakias next month which is our 27th year so you can imagine how much we love it too.

We will think of him when we drive around our beloved Island.

We wish him well & a speedy recovery.

We hope he will be able to visit his island later this year and send us more info and nice pictures.  His postings have given us lots of ideas during our last trip in May.  We hope to see more tips very soon and wish him a speedy recovery.

Hope all goes well. Will happily do as suggested. Fine idea.

I have loved Crete, not just Plakias, for a long time and now have a Cretan PhD student who is educating me further re Crete.

Best wishes, Lampyland and all, Richard

Sorry to hear of your continuing illness, but we hope you continue to progress towards full health, even if slowly.

Loss of your house must be upsetting, but at least it was unoccupied and insured - the alternative does not bear thinking about.

Good luck for the future, hopefully you have used up all the bad.

It is good to have you back on the Forum, and join others in wishing you and your family a better year in 2014.  I had missed your informative contributions, positive approach and great photographs.

Welcome back!

Sorry to hear the bad news and hope things improve in the future.
If you do manage to get to Lesbos we would recommend Molyvos or Petra as a base. It is a beautiful island, well worth visiting.
