Easyjet Spring 2013 flights
« on: September 07, 2012, 04:49:23 PM »
Easyjet Spring flights for 2013 are now available UK to Plakias. Thanks to friends alerting us we booked yesterday (first day) for our first spring break in Plakias and which will include the Orthodox Easter (05 May). Rechecked the prices today the 2nd day to find that we would have had to pay another £80. Will be in Plakias for 2 weeks mid September and it will be nice to know we shall return in Spring.

Easyjet booking much clearer now and one can allocate your seats in advance from £3 per person per flight.

So - hitching a lift with Olympic from Newcastle in September and back to fully independent with Easyjet from Manchester in Spring.

What happened to the Isle of Skye for your spring break John? I'm guessing that you aren't repeating your "hitching a lift with Olympic from Newcastle" in the spring because you are going before the Olympic programme starts.

I was surprised to find out that the Olympic Gatwick (Strategic) flights don't start until May 14, although you can book Kostas Chrysoulla (but not Dora) on May 7th with a Thomson flight.

Isle of Mull Spring break still takes priority  - 2 weeks after we return from Plakias. If we like Plakias in Spring them will change our Plakias hol from September to April for future years. Will go even earlier - returning end of April as Easyjet fly in March. Will prefer the cooler climes, flowers and snow. Our Mull break is start of June.

We have also booked our flights Manchester to Heraklion. 2nd to 10th May at a good price with Easyjet. We were on the point of booking with Thomsons and it would have been £200 more. :o

Does anything special happen in Plakias at Orthodox Easter Sunday?

I understand that big celebrations take place at Selia and Mirthios - bonfires and fireworks after the services. We are hoping to join a local family for the celebrations. Not sure about the Plakias Church. There is frequently general family feasting with lamb as a predominent ingredient.

We are staying with friends between Asomatos and Mirthios so should get a good view of the fireworks.

Are the fireworks not a bit of a fire hazard if the weather is dry ???
