Plakias beaches October
« on: August 25, 2012, 10:05:38 PM »
Hi,
Thinking of returning to Plakias area in early October.

We've only ever been in mid June so were wondering if anyone could enlighten us on the how busy the beaches are likely to be?  Usually it's the far western end of Plakias main and the beautiful Mikro Amoudi that we tend to use..are the sun beds usually available for rent at this time of the year?  Rough windy seas?

In anticipation, thank you.

Very early October is likely to be fairly busy. Sun beds will still be available. Sea should be warm (I am told). At far end the demand for sun beds might exceed supply even in early October. This is due to shortage of beds rather than excessive crowds - a problem with reduction in bed numbers over the past couple of years. Weather should be ok but some rain might be expected though it should be hot and sunny and extremely pleasant. We leave in early October but have previously stayed quite late into that month and enjoyed it.

We are going on 16th. October for, sadly, 1 week only, and I would like to know the chances of good, dry weather. We too usually go early June, and will not be expecting that sort of temperature, but something pleasant will do nicely. We will be taking jackets and pullovers for the evenings, a first for our many visits to Plakias!
On another tack, can anyone confirm if ALL the rooms at Kostas Chrysoulla have been refurbished? We like rooms 5/6/7, looking east overlooking the parking area that leads to the alley down to Ostracos etc., as any improvement will be great, especially to the bathroom!

I also am going in October (8th for 16 days).
There's no guarantee of the weather in October. I was there during the same period last year. We had one day of total washout, two partial washout but the rest were lovely.
There won't be any problem with sunbeds at that far end in October (there seems to be much scaremongering).
Micro Amoudi was cleared completely of beds and bar during the middle weekend last year. However, it's a delightful beach in its natural state; you just have to take your own drink.
You will need jumpers for the evenings.

We arrive on september 28th until october 5th, most years the weather was great in october, windy in plakias, but if there was to much wind in Plakias, we used to drive to the beach between Ligres and triopetra.

For many years we used to head to Plakias for the half term week in late October and, with just the odd exception, the weather was still pretty good then and so much better than back in the UK.

Note to administrators - perhaps a weather forcast link/tab would be a good idea for everyone to access at the top right of the page alongside the Plakias Map and Olympic Holidays links???Just a thought.

I love these long range forecasts and look with amazement at a prediction 15 days away when they get it wrong for the following day.

Many thanks for the replies.

I've just seen a 'long term' weather forecast.  I know 10 days is a lot to ask but it suggested the holiday would start with 3 days rain and a plummet in temperature!
Ah well!!
