How is business in Plakias?
« on: July 11, 2012, 10:34:22 AM »
We were last in Plakias two years ago and noticed that the little general store more or less opposite Gio Mar taverna had closed.  We thought that was a pity - it was a handy place to pick up a couple of rolls and tomatoes on the way down to the beach. Has anybody noticed any more changes, particularly to the small businesses in these difficult times?
We are not due to visit until mid September, so perhaps it's a bit early to say, but what about excursion opportunites to local places of interest? Again, a couple of years ago, we noticed the various coach trips had diminished a bit.
Greetings to all Greco - and Plakias - philes - hope you are having a great time if you are there already.

Ntice that things in general are a little quieter, since 08, in fact. Let's hope that the current Euro problems sort themselves out (can't count on most politicians, after all!!).

We were there from June 14-28. Quite quiet we thought. Of the tavernas we went in Gio Ma and Gorgonas were the two busiest. We stayed in Anthos apartments which was only full on about 5 days. Saturday 23rd the village was really quiet. We had a brilliant time and can't wait to go back so we leave it up to everyone else to keep the tavernas open until next year!
