Noopsy, re. your question "What is the Palegremnos like?" Well, obviously we like it. Why? It's next to our favourite beach. It has wonderful views.

here you can see Palegremnos in the distance at the other end of the bay just to the right of Valerie. There's plenty of parking space. What in particular would you like to know? The accommodation is much as you'd expect if you've been to a 'rent rooms' place, similar to all the others we've stayed in in Plakias.
As far as I know, it's owned by the usual dysfunctional family with one half running the downstairs taverna and the other running the accommodation on the floors above. They don't appear to co-operate in any meaninful fashion. If you ask one half about something run by the other they just send you to ask. There is a picture of 'the old man' (grandfather I presume), in the accommodation reception area wearing traditional Cretan costume. Worth seeing.
The lunch-time food in the taverna is excellent. Try the Palegremnos salad and the plate of beans. The service is amusing too. Two brothers wait on, one of whom is very po faced. I delight in making him crack it. We were in there one year when a bus-load of Greeks turned up, shepherded by a priest, who took over half the tables and then carried in their own food off the coach!
The taverna is busy at lunch-time but very quiet at night when we invariably eat in the village.
