Thanks for this.

Having looked at the website, there are some gorgeous beaches on the island. Some are difficult to get to and others are well known (Vai, Elafonissi etc.).

Plakias is listed as a popular tourist resort, which to be honest isn't the easiest place to get for holiday companies. it's certainly not the prettiest or most picturesque, it can get very windy in the high season (we see this as a bonus, others don't) and as far as the main beach is concerned (although considered to be a clean beach) doesn't even get into the top 20 on this website.

So taking into account these and other factors, one would question why Plakias is as popular as it is. It does though have a special 'feel' or vibe that it is difficult to put your finger on it. The people that live and work here are on the whole great but that doesn't tell the whole story as to why we go back time after time.

some strange choices as to the best beaches on this site... a lot of them chosen by people who didn't get very far out of their chosen resort  ;D

but some good ones mixed in there, Triopetra coming in at 10

does this look like elefonissi to anyone?

I love travel and I always swore I would never go back to the same place twice......so why have I been going back to Plakias since 1987 ? I have introduced several people to the village and they too have fallen in love and returned. It is a very...very special place does there have to be a reason ?
