APAL Animal Protection & Life Line
« on: September 06, 2011, 11:18:11 AM »
Dear Animal Friends,

APAL needs your support! Due to the dire economic situation of Greece and the three-time increase in VAT to 23% now, everything has become more expensive: The price of gasoline and the flight charges for the fledging of the animals have almost doubled this year. At the same time, it becomes increasingly difficult to take animals to foreign countries, as agencies increasingly take care of animals from Eastern Europe, which of course are also in need of help. For our animals, this means a much  longer stay here on site and for us as a result of higher costs under shelter and care. Daily we are inundated with requests for admission, and attendant care for injured, abandoned and sick animals.

Our previous budget consisting of membership dues, donations and funding agency, is not enough to confront this new situation. For our help for the animals here in the region (and often beyond) continue to pay, we must embark on new paths.

With the help of sponsorships we can succeed together to cover monthly expenses sustained by the association which can no longer carry on otherwise. For as little as 10 euro's per month you can help.

If you can sponsor please go to www.finikas.de & for donations the details are below.

TRANSPORTATION OF ANIMALS TO GERMANY TO FOSTER HOMES!
Dear Animal friends

Our telephone lines were glowing & our nerves raw!

But after 4 weeks of unbelievable bureaucracy we have now finally managed to get all the necessary approvals from the Greek & German authorities for the proposed dog carriers. The preparations have taken so long, the animals can travel unfortunately only 3 weeks later than planned. Transportation is now scheduled for late February.
Some of the of the private foster homes have been waiting eagerly for their new arrivals. Others could not wait any longer & have pulled out. This in turn has caused problems with the organization.

We here on site we are full & to see us face fact of having to hold additional medical emergencies is awful. Currently two pups were found without a mother. One with a broken leg.

We therefore decided to send the first 7 dogs by cargo plane to Germany. They have all safely arrived & been welcomed into their foster homes.  All the animals are doing well & there were no problems during the trip.
This short term change of plan with two flights to Germany means a significant financial overhead once again for our organization.  The Car Transport was already an enormous burden on our budget & now with the additional airfare costs there is a big hole.

Some donations from loving Animal friends & members have already entered our account & we thank all very much.

BUT we need further support.

IF YOU WANT TO HELP US ACCOMPANY THE ANIMALS TO THEIR NEW FOSTER HOMES PLEASE CHECK OUR WEBSITE. THERE YOU WILL FIND ALL THE NECESSARY INFORMATION ABOUT OUR BANKS DETAILS.

A big thank you from all of the APAL team.
