Storm - Sfakia
« on: February 19, 2011, 07:03:36 PM »
There are some interesting photos on the Sfakia forum of today's storm in Crete.

http://www.sfakia-crete.com/sfakia-crete/b...0211/index.html

Many of the life boards from the Daskalogiannis ferry can be seen strewn around the harbour. Not too sure how good or safely stashed they would be for a storm at sea!

I spent quite a bit today watching the storm on the Sfakia harbour webcam - very impressive.

I had a phone call from a friend in Plakias yesterday and he told me that there had been a
big storm in Plakias. The beach bar has been badly damaged.

I found this photo on flickr:

Does anyone know what this place was, Pete and I reckon it might be the Kyma or possibly the Alianthos?

HOWEVER!! The next photo to it on Flickr does look like the Bay at Plakias although it is labelled Plakia. So I have probably caused unnecessary confusion.

Just had text from Freddie confirming the road was in chaos & the water went as far as the Pharmacy....just waiting to find out which (if any) of the Taverna's have damage.
