I must admit that I am a little sentimental about 'Fix'. It was my first introduction to the delights of Greece, and wasn't it odd sitting in a bar asking the waiter for a Fix?
I think I drank them out of business!

george...

Nearly as odd as when I was in a Dorset pub a couple of weeks ago and ordered a pint of Piddle

Mythos et al are fine in Greece but in England you can't beat a pint of real ale, properly served IMHO.

I'm with you Mike, I can't stand that gassy, chemicalised gnats pee they call lager, at home. I'm a real ale man and was a member of CAMRA for several years, but real ale or even bitter of any kind doesn't seem to fit when I'm in Crete. I'll stick to bottled Mythos, red wine and gin and tonic, even the draught lager over there is yuk! Blows me up something chronic!!

You are a woman of great taste Jann!
I must admit that I'm not that much of an officiado these days, and quite happy with a pint or two of Boddingtons, but Lager  :'(     !! You can keep it!! YUK!!!
We're quite lucky down here, we have King and Barnes(haven't seen them for a while), Harveys and several micro brewerys in Brighton and the surrounding areas.
There was another Mike on the site who lived down here, he was into it too!

Another real ale drinker here. Mythos or Amstel does okay when in Greece but can't have too many as its just too gassy (switch to the metaxa or ouzo or G&T or wine or sambuca   )

Had a nice pint of Sneck Lifter last night, funny name but tasted good (if a little chewy)

A very apt quote Paul, I used to drink Directors, and I did have a few dodgy mornings!

It never does Barny! I've got three bottles of homebrew at home that I use in the Lemsip when I've got a cold or flu!
And yes it does work... well it makes me feel better anyway!

Would you be referring to me, George?

King and Barnes got sold back in 2000 and the Horsham brewery was closed down. You still see Sussex Bitter about, but it is brewed in Dorset by Badger!

As you say we still have Harveys of Lewes, but it gets confusing when you see their Sussex Best Bitter. It must be best since it is half a per cent stronger than Sussex Bitter from Dorset.

jennings snecklifter     a sneck is a door latch, the idea is a pint that will get you through the door and last you all night
