Have many of you seen snakes when staying in Plakias. I have only ever seen the one. I wondering if any of you know where and when is the best time.

I've seen snakes on several occasions in Crete but none in Plakias.  There is a good article here:

Thanks for that, I am almost sure that it was a Dice snake that we saw. It was on the road going out of the back of Plakias leading up to Myrthios.

While watching the snake I noticed a 7 min video of a car journey through Plakias. It brought back good memories; just over 6 months before I experience them again. The video looks to have been taken in fairly high season, judged by the number of cars and the wind.

Google streetview comes to Plakias......something we really want to see at last!

Two years ago, I saw a snake on the road outside a taverna in Plakias (true).  There was also a very very small man near the snake. (Not so true)

The taverna staff, seeing the situation, very quickly cleared both away.

That night's menu included snake and pygmy pie !!!

I noticed that there were a couple of snakes working on the new buildings in Plakias. Turns out that they were Boa Constuctors !

When last I was there I thought I spied a number of small navy cuboid storage containers, nope they were only Lesser Black Kraits
