Yes I must be careful as I don't want this to be a catalyst to create further action.

OK George but soon the big plane will 'whiskas' away to sunny Plakias.  Flying is better than going from 'felixtoe' on the sea cat?

Here we go again!

What do you mean?

I think it was a strange post from Dimitri seeing as in previous posts he claims to know Plakias & Crete very well?! The situation in Plakias regarding cats/dogs has improved alot over the years mainly due to local animal welfare organisations i.e Friends of Rethymno & more. It is still bad but slowly getting better.

I do not understand either if an animal lover surely you would not just watch some one throw kittens down the mountain? I for one would not!

I have to say I also found the other posts odd except from Travellin Gran who clearly shares my love of animals. I agree with her, spend a minute donating a few euro's to a worth while cause in Crete rather than pointless comments on the forum.

I have thought for a long time that we are all meant to love Crete & especially Plakias & share info etc so why are there such hostile comments being made so often, life is too short...

Rowena
check out the last time i was in plakia,i was living in the village then and had to take local sentiments in to consideration.note i write from the viewpoint of someone who lived with them in their home, not as a passing tourist.what they say to your face and what is happining are not always the same thing.i repeat i lived and worked on crete mainly in the plakias area for two years,i have a good level of greek and socialised with my hosts and workmates in my spare time, the cafe and hotel owners you mainly meet have a vested interest in being nice to you much as your pub landlord here does.on the animal side i dont recall any locals who had animals other than the ones that were of some use ie chickens donkeys etc.look forward to seeing angelo walking his pug on plakias seafront on my next visit. great puns though a most amusing read.apart from the odd catty remark.

What on earth is that you are holding, harribobs? I didn't realise there were any snakes on Crete.

There are some, but you hardly ever see them.
They're very shy for fear of being run over by a pick-up truck (see thread from a few years back).

Wasn't there a report from last year sometime that Pavlos from Kyma was chasing one along the front with the intension of GBH?

Now we know why the 'Eastenders' title page has been updated, Chris nicked the river!!
