[split] summit of Timeos Stavros

Karen said "why not go one better and take the walk up to the summit of Timeos Stavros and check out the 360 degree panorama from there." I did just that a couple of years ago and the photos I took - five displayed below show the fantastic views available. Apologies if they are a bit slow loading etc.

How long did it take you to walk to the summit? Must try that when we go in September. Not sure I will get Margherita up there though, not exactly a mountain goat, she managed to twist her ankle last year just walking back to the studio! Although copious amounts of red wine and Mythos might have exacerbated the situation

We parked our (hire) car in the village of Lefkoyia and walked from there. It is not a difficult walk with a wide zig zag driveable track most of the way up so it is not really as steep as one might imagine from the pyramidical shape of the hill. It is not that far really - though we don't consider the walk Plakias - Souda - Selia - Mirthios - Plakias to be all that far. Can't remember exactly how long it took us - perhaps an hour to an hour and a half - sauntering by our standards. We go to Plakias in early October when temperatures can be reasonable. On a clear day it is well worth the effort. Watch out for wind as it would be exposed on a typical Plakias windy day. Glad you liked the photos. Glad you are getting to Plakias again as well.

Is Timeos Stavros the hill more or less due south of Gianniou?

Not sure about your description - can't quickly recollect Gianniou - no map at hand. However it is the large pyramid shaped hill with church right on the pointed summit which is very prominent on the skyline when looking due South from Plakias.
