Events in and around Plakias
« on: September 03, 2008, 05:23:42 PM »
On a few occasions when in Plakias we've found out about events the day after they've happened. Feel free to add info about any events in the Plakias area.
I have two specific questions:
1. Is there a date set for the Raki festival at Kali Sikia - we've managed to miss it in previous years and would like to go this year.

2. Last year we went up Timios Stavros, coincidentally on the day of the Feast of the Holy Cross - we would like to attend the service this year - does anyone know what time it is? I assume, we've got the date correct - 14th September.

Thanks

Hi Graham and Karen.
As I understand it, unless there are exceptional circumstances such as unusual weather the Kali Sikia Raki Festival is normally on the 9th September.
We can't get to it this year because we'll be in the far West but if you go I hope you have a good time.

Sorry, I cannot answer to your specific questions. I suggest, ask Freddy from the beach or his wife. She works in the Livicon.

I have an other idea:
We would recommend the Bouzouki Night at the Paligremnos. It takes place every Monday in the evening. I am sure you know it.
This year at the end of May/at the beginning of June we had a wonderful evening with our friends and we met so many people from the beach.
Every day we met us on the beach and than the evening was great, the music and the dances were unforgettable. For the evening meal
we had a large choice in the kitchen.
We hope it will takes place next year too.

Kerstin & Peter

Hi Graham and Karen

Just checked a Greek Name Day website and Sept 14th is Timeos Stavros day.  We've never yet made it to Kali Sika, partly due to work and partly due to the fact we only ever find out about it after the event.

Advertising for events doesn't seem very popular here, apart from Paligremnos, any live music seems to be advertised 2 days before.  We decided not to go to an event on Souda Beach at the end of August due to lack of warning and have regretted it ever since.  Can't remember the name of the lead man but it happened to be on one of the windless nights in August and we could hear the music from our apartment behind Paligremnos.  Lay awake listening to great Cretan music and when we got up at 7.30 the next morning it was still going.

Next year we're going

Ali

Hallo everybody!
sorry if I didn't post anymore here... but really got no time
Well, I want just to say 'yassou' to all the friends we meet in Plakias in 2006, and just say that for me is -5

@Harribobs, please check your mail, there's a big question for you
Anyway, if you can't but see this message... remember the Water's Edge (I hope you know what I mean )

Hi Alex,

Good to hear from you.

Does -5 mean you will be in Plakias in 5 days time?

If so then we will see you there, we go tomorrow.

Will look out for you.

Ciao

Paul & Margherita

Hi Paul!!!
nice to hear you!
so sorry but this time our plan does not include Plakias...for the moment!
We decided to go to Kalives for 3 days, then go down to Paleochora for about 1 week, then... we don't know.
So it is possible also to come back to Plakias, maybe for a day trip.
If it will happen, I hope to find you!
Anyway, have a very good trip Paul, and say hallo also to Margherita (I mean not the pizza, but your italian wife   )
I'm joking...!
Have a nice time in Plakias, I still miss friends like you.
Cheers,
Alex

@Chris: all right... was my fault with email... (see the new one)
