been there again.
« on: August 17, 2008, 02:16:10 PM »
Hi all,
Well that's my two weeks done for this year and I look forward to year 20 next time. All is well in town and I enjoyed everywhere I went, there are some changes but you may or may not notice them. There is a fair bit of building work going on but you only notice it when you are on the beach road, but on the funny side, every lunch time the builders all turn up at the far end, still with their hard hats and boots on and sit there and eat their sandwiches!! so funny, I even heard one do a wolf whistle ! cant do that in England.
It was good to meet up with Ali and Dave and enjoy a beer or two. Price wise, in my opinion, some things are a bit pricey so pack a few more Euro in your pocket. Antonis has had a refit and serves evening meals now, well worth a look, a new menu. I could go on but leave it to you to find out. But for now , dont worry about building etc (apart from the builders) and enjoy your holidays !!!

Hi Chris, In my opinion I found prices where I went were higher in Euros, not a lot but over two weeks it builds up a bit.

Hmm.   Not sure if I'd find it funny being gawped at by a load of builders.  For the ladies, it must be even worse.  I will adjust my lunch-time trips to the beach bar to coincide with these visits if necessary.

I forgot to say, When i arrived at Heraklion in the taxi it was before all the coaches turned up and others were still queing outside, it took less than five minutes to check in and get my case through the scanner!!
But then i went into the dep lounge and well i think two planes were delayed, gatwicks as usual and there was not a space to even stand without bumping into someone!! and as for the smoking area, i didnt need to light up, just breath normaly and a small can of mythos was just under four euros !! fun!

Had a text from 'Pete and Dawn' last night around 10.30 local time. They were in the Levicon, with Gin and Tonic and the temp was around the mid 30C's.
B*****ds, it's peeing down here, still only a week and a bit to go before I'll be having some of that!!

So are these guys turning up en masse Barny, or just 3s and 4s? I'm trying to imagine far-enders with hard hats a boots!!

Normaly about five or six of them but one day i counted about ten, i suppose word gets round.
they all have a little plastic sandwich box and a flask of something to drink. a couple of times some of them have gone in the sea, i suppose to wash their hot sweaty feet after a day in big boots!! one of them discovered that he could make a sand castle by filling his hard hat up and patting it out! they all come at different times so mr noopsy might have to keep on his toes this year..
