We are off to Plakias next week, and we are wondering if there are many mosquitos.

Can anyone help ?
Thanks

Mysteriously disappeared over the last few years, I've had no problems with them at all.

I think there's a thread on here somewhere talking about where they've gone!!

Sorry, I had other experiences during our stay this year. I was bitten by many mosquitoes. Maybe it depended on the location of our apartment.
There were many olive trees, bushes and flowers. Unfortunately I am allergic and therefore I had enough problems. I would recommend something
against the mosquitoes.

I'm sure the location of the apartment could make a difference, but I would agree with George; they were an annoyance in the evenings 4 or 5 years ago but the last two years we've not had a problem - if I remember correctly, we sometimes use anti-mozzi lotion but it's probably not necessary.

Hi, We were there just over a week ago and we had one mozzie in the room.  Our fault really as we had left a balcony door open with a light on in the room.  Other than that we never saw another one.  As others have said it probably depends upon where your accommodation is and the proximity of standing water, etc.  We were never bothered when out on the town in the evenings.  However it's always best to be prepared with a mozzie plug-in device and some repellant just in case.

I was told years ago to drink tonic water as they dont like the quinine it contains , don't know if it works but its a good excuse to  drink G and T .

I should try it because all mosquitoes are looking for me.
Shall I begin in the morning or a bit later with this drink?

I have always believed it was yeast extract (Marmite) and that it was the B vitamins the mosquitoes didn't like.

I think I'll stick to the G & T idea, it seems to work for me!!

One thing they DO like is perfume girls... and aftershave boys, so don't use heavily scented ones

Thanks for the ideas/suggestions everyone.....

I think I should be safe if I don't wear aftershave, eat some marmite, and have a few G&T's !!!!! lol

I think the weather is probably a big factor - you try flying about and biting people when you weigh about a miligram and THAT wind gets going...

It didn't use to worry them any, the wind has always been there!! But I see what you mean.
