which hotel would you recommand....
« on: June 15, 2007, 11:17:58 PM »
Hi,

For a couple and a baby that want to enjoy a sandy quiet beach and a sweaming pool and a nice outhentic place - I read all of your comments and got a bit confused....
What  would you recommand from the lamon hotel, skinos and oasis. All of them are nice but each one has something that the other has not. I tend to go for skinos for the beach that seams great but it looks a bit isolated and without any bar or facilities. oasis is without sea view and far from the beach but is nice too. There is also the alianthos hotel...

I'd second that, but it's highly unlikely that they have anything left, and you would have to book it through an agent. I tried to email them this year and their server tells me that they are no longer connected.
The Skinos is a bit far out of town, and the beach has a lot to be desired and it's not very big.
The Oasis is a nice place, but it's at the top of the hill and one hell of a track back after a long day on the beach, but they do have a wonderful pool and surroundings, and the Alianthos is right on the beach and there's a pool, but they are expensive.

How about the Paligremnos, it has the beach and the views

Good Luck!

I'll second the Lamon....thats where we are right now & have just opted for a 2nd week there (should have been returning to the UK today!)

Its lovelly & relaxed & quiet, but close enough to everything you'd want, without being right on top of some of the livelier bars & restaurants (but only a few minutes stroll if you want to visit them. The beach is literally 30 seconds walk across the road.

Hi this is my first post.

My girlfriend and i have just returned from Plakias and we stayed at the Lamon. As has been mentioned elsewhere on this forum, the plumbing is a little poor and the rooms very basic, but after a couple of days we fell in love with the place. It has real charm.

The staff are all very nice, especially Frankie who serves the late drinks, he's a real character. The food isn't really up to much there though to be honest, breakfast is very basic. The chef seems a little inexperienced, but when you have so many other restaurants literally seconds away it's not really an issue.

The location couldn't be better in my opinion. Right by a couple of supermarkets and the beach is ten seconds across the road. The view is simply stunning from the front of the hotel.

I would definitely return there and i'm one hundred percent certain i'm going back to Plakias as soon as i can.

I nearly cried when we had to leave the other day. I've never enjoyed anywhere as much as i have Plakias. What a truly wonderful place.

Hi Nathan

Welcome to the site where you will find lots of similar thinking people. Glad you enjoyed it.

Do you mean Freddie at the Lamon, lovely guy very infectious and one of Plakias's characters, he also looks after the 'Far end' beds during the day.

I agree, it is in a good position, I was in the Flisvos Rooms next door this year and had one of the rooms at the front, enjoyed it immensely.

Hi George, thanks for the welcome.

Yes his name was Freddie not Frankie. Course it was, tut, silly me. We saw him a few times down the far end ourselves, although i must admit we didn't have the nerve to strip off so felt a little out of place at first. Nobody seemed to mind us though and it's such a lovely spot. I went up the hill up into all the caves and also climbed to the top, beautiful view from up there of the whole bay.

What date were you out there yourself?

Cheers

Hello Nathan,

Everyone thinks like that before they have tried it, but once you have I venture to suggest you will never want to revert. Nobody will mind whatever you do though. Just make sure any bits not used to being exposed are well protected with suntan lotion!

I would hazard a guess that the majority of the regulars to this site are "farenders".

Hi Mike

Well we did seriously consider it and my girlfriend was talking about it for the the whole of the last week. On the last day i came very close i must admit. Maybe next time.

Oh and i just noticed you can state when you last visited Plakias, so ignore that question George if you read this. You were staying right next door the same time we were there then? Looking at that photo you do look very familiar it must be said and to be honest that's why i asked.

I was there from the 21.08 until the 04.09 and must admit I only went into the Lamon once when Pete and Co arrived to have a drink waiting for Maria who runs Flisvos to turn up.
Might have seen me leaning over the balcony in the middle, which is what I did whenever I was in the room, I never get tired of looking at the view.
I've been told on more than one occation that I am familiar.
There aren't many people who stay in Plakias and don't come back so hopefully we will meet next year. I'm already planning for it perhaps a little later, then I can moan about the SL's!!

Re the Far End. Do it Nathan, you will never look back and you'll wonder why it took you so long, it's a great feeling to feel the sun on the vitals
