Web-Cam... The Future?

The Sfakian's have started up a new web-cam in Hania. See www.webcam-chania-crete.com
Great picture's.. live too. Well done to them.
Isn't it time we had our own web-cam in Plakias? We could have a daily fix of our wonderful village. Watch the weather, it's amazeing how a beach changes character during the winter. Even watch our friends poseing.
The Sfakian's have had over 2,500,000 hits on thier web-cam!
Were would it be fitted?.. What view would it show?.. How do we go about it? Could we sell the advertising to local traders?
My vote for location is around the harbour area showing the harbour, front and in the distance the far end.
Any thoughts and comments?

The requirements would be:

1.  A building, in the right posision, on which to mount the camera.

2.  A nearby computer that is:

  a.  Always on.

  b.  Connected to the Internet via broadband.

  c.  Running a web server.

3.  Someone local to set it up and fix it when it goes wrong.


Any Plakias residents able to provide any of the above?

Don't forget the fab Loutro webcam which is a little closer to Plakias.

Sorry folks I don't have broadband.  I think a webcam showing the carpark by Nufaro/KriKri would be the best then everyone could have a laugh at the crazy parking!!

Or outside Ostraco and have a laugh at Stelios shouting at everyone who doesn't notice the one way system

Folks, have a look at the Stoupa - Kalogria wb-cam on www.zorbas.de/webcam/eindex.php Perhaps this could give us inspiration to do the same?
