Well everyone, only ten days to go untill we depart from birmingham!
Theres not been a lot said about the wind for a while, whats the latest on the good old meltemi or will it arrive the same time as us?
Does anyone know if more beer mats are needed at Kyma or does anyone out there need anything bringing out for them?
Glad the far end beach bar was removed, the other ones wont bother us.
Hope the Mythos is cold and ready for me if you previous visitors havent drunk it all! Has anyone been to the museum at Heraklion? is it easy to get to and is it worth it?
Soon be there!

Hi Barny

Good to hear you'll be back out soon.  Believe it or not we have had hardly any wind this year.  I think we've had two periods of the really strong Plakias wind since the start of the year and it hasn't lasted too long.  But that does mean that it is very hot   !  I do a regular check and there is plenty of cold Mythos in town.

See you soon

Ali

There seems to be no shortage of Mythos so far and it's served satisfyingly cold.

There are a few museums in Heraklion, the main one I guess is the Archaelogical museum which is easy to find and i would say definitely worth a visit - the Minoan frescoes from Knossos are one of the highlights.  It's open till 7 pm most weekdays and costs 6 euros for adults, or a combined ticket with Knossos is 10 euros.

Every time I've been to heraklion I've tried and failed to see the Resistance Museum, covering the period of Nazi occupation during WWII.  It's near the archaeology museum but has very restricted opening hours and I've never found it open - I think it closes at 3pm.

John's going to be out here for two weeks from the 24th August.  Was hoping to come in June but could not make it.

I suspect most of us pack way too much - for instance I took twice as many clothes as I needed, given that I hand-washed them every night and they were bone-dry by the morning; I even took a towel, god knows why, and I took two fat books though I didn't finish the first of them in the two weeks.  Anything you forget to pack, you can buy when you get there.

have a great time!
