windy weather

hi shelby 213 here i havnt visited site for a while we are heading back to plakias in july for two weeks after such a fantastic holiday last year. it was very windy last year can anyone tell how it is looking this year. I have 8 weeks to go and i am very excited    thanks

From our experience (visited twice) and from talking to others, I think you can expect it to be quite windy - good thing is, it makes the sea more fun to mess around in.

This will be 12yrs running this year (we usually go last week in June/first week in July, last year was the FIRST time we did not have the MELTEMI winds, and we were quite dissapointed, It can be very exciting when it's at it's fullest although the strange thing is nothing moves no dustbins, nothing, only the contents of some poor unsuspecting TOURIST when they open the car door and the entire contents go flying everywhere. We have always stayed at the LAMON and watched new arrivals looking all forlown and next morning all saying "WE WANT TO GO HOME"
I suppose thats one of the reasons you either love or hate Plakias.
Me personally, I just sit on the Lamon veranda "FORCING" another Amstel down me till the wind drops (gosh it's such a hard life)

I have heard that July and August are the windiest months, although when we've been in June and also in our favourite September, we have experienced quite heavy blows.  I don't know about nothing moving, though.  The tamarisk trees nearly lie horizontal!  It's all part of Plakias - either love it or hate it.  Have one in Lamon for me and pass on regards to Denis (Dionysius).  We'll be there in September for one for ourselves!!

Are there no answers? We only saw the two trees (I could have sworn there were more) plus a big ravine (That was filled in while we were there) due to the excess of flowing water after the snow. Lots of Olive trees damaged over winter. Lovely to see lots of flowers and greenery though which we haven't seen going later in the year.

Can't remember the number of tamarisk trees but I agree that there were more than two! Will check our umpteen years' worth of photos and be in touch.
