You will get lots of suggestions I hope. When I made my booking it was with Olympic - the travel firm, not the airline. They quoted me prices on Air 2000 flights which were cheaper than Air 2000 offered me.

So far, I've only seen:
14 nights, Birmingham to Heraklion at 21:30 on Friday 17th October for £209.

If you're prepared to go on 14th October you could get a package of 14 nights at Costas Chrysoulla with transfers and flight from Birminham at a very civilised 08:25 for about £313.

Barny,
you don't say where you live, but go have a look at http://www.flightline.co.uk they have got loads of flights on the 17th from loads of places, so you should find something.
Good luck,

Pritch

According to his profile Barny lives in Solihull which, if I'm not mistaken, is right under the normal landing/departing flight path to Birmingham airport.

Barny, at the time of writing this link shows a 14 day departure to Heraklion at 21:30 on the 17th October.  There are also three 7 day departures.  Unfortunately, all are night flights.

Looks like Pritch gets the pint!

hI,

We've looked at visiting 'out of season' and could only book internal flights via Athens. I've been told the easiest way is to fly to Athens and get the ferry to Chania....it saves all the hassle.

Good luck !

Yes, thats what I used to do. You basically spend the night on the boat, I heard some of the modern ones are quite "luxorious" (That is not sleeping open air on the deck) enjoy.

I don't know if this qualifies for this post, but Hopper's comments on 'luxurious' ferries prompted me to recall our only experience on Greek ferries, and these didn't take us to Crete (that came later).  peter and I found ourselves with 3 weeks leave, so we decided to go Greek Island Wandering, visiting 5 islands and Athens in that time.  All but the last ferry were good to fair as far as comfort was concerned.  It was just as well that it was on our last ferry back to Athens that we had the 'experience ' or the whole trip would have been aborted by yours tuly.  We were about 2 hours out of Paros when there was the most frightful commotion and a RAT appeared being chased by a CAT who after chasing it around the passengers feet (well those who still had them on the deck) caught it and promptly tore it to pieces!  Never again!
