Weather in August

Just wondering what the weather usually like in August, as we have never been then, previously we have been June, early July... How much hotter is it in August?

Hi Pimo,

We usually go for the last two weeks in August.  The weather is hot, and it is usually pretty windy.  When the wind drops, it does tend to be very hot.  I went to Plakias in mid-July in 2012, and actually found it much hotter than August, partly because there was less wind.  I wouldn't rely on that though, as it might have been a particularly hot July.

We go to the beach early or late and stay in the shade as much as possible at the hottest time.  We never use air-conditioning, and have generally found it reasonably okay to sleep, even in August. 

Given the choice, I'd rather go in June or September, but we are limited to school holidays at present.

Enjoy it whenever you go - we will be there the last two weeks in August this year, so perhaps see you then?

We were in Loutra mid august last year and went to Plakias almost every 2 days.
the weather was absolutely wonderful. We had instead of other years almost no wind.
the temperature was fine. We also tought it would be hotter in August.
We are there from 8 august until 22 august.

We have been in july and august. If the wind drops as it will at some point during your stay then you experience the full effect of the sun at around 35-37 degrees. Otherwise the wind  takes the edge off these temperatures as you feel it.

Coolest time for us was towards the of august as you might expect. Whatever time you go in these months you will be blessed with brilliant weather. Have a great stay.
