Rodakino Beaches.
« on: February 19, 2014, 09:52:08 AM »
If you would like to explore a little further from Plakias but not too far. You may like the lovely and unspoilt beaches of Rodakino.
Korakas, Klimata and Polirizos are all lovely, with our favourite being Polirizos. Eat at the waterside taverna and rooms of Nikos and Anna. Beautiful setting against the headland. A quiet and beautiful area. Korakas has several tavernas and there were sunbeds. Polirizos and Klimata a beach mat and sunshade are needed, although at Polirizos there are some Tamarisks to provide shade.
NB. To view the first two photographs properly, right click and choose open in new tab. Images too big to be shown here and lots hidden.

Hi Lampyland,

Your pictures always make me ache to be there....  They brighten up a wet winter (fortunately not too wet here) with thoughts of the summer.

The fact it is called "Peach Beach" also makes me smile.

Fantastic beaches in that area with lots of space. Sometimes the sea can be a bit rough though.
We also ventured the other direction to Hora Sfakion (1hr on the motorbike ) stopping en-route to look around the castle and area of Frangocastello.
From Hora Sfakion we took the ferry to Sweetwater beach for the day and fed the goats on the beach.
One day we would like to visit Gavdos Island.

Hi Triton

We'd love to go to Gavdos too, and rumour had it when we were there in 2013 that the ferry that is moored up in the big harbour should be running to Gavdos from Plakias in 2014.

Hi All,

We are also interested in spending a few days on Gavdos.  Maybe one of the forum members living in Plakias knows more about a ferry going there from Plakias.  Please let us know.  Thank you in advance.
