'Old' Plakias
« on: June 19, 2003, 08:34:38 PM »
Hi All
We first visited Plakias in 1992 (and have been every year since).  I have been browsing the 'Old Plakias' site and I wonder if this qualifies: Does anyone remember the cocktail bar in the road which runs alongside the Alianthos Taverna and hotel?  I think it was called the Blue Dolphin.  What happened to it?  Did it re-open under anoither name.  I would be interested to know.  Thanks.

I remember the Blue Dolphin well - it's the only place in the world I have ever done karaoke!

Several people tried to get it running - but the last I heard they were forced to close due to complaints about noise from people staying in the Alianthos.

I've not been up that street for years - love to know what happened to the building.

Hello all, Barny here, it was the crazy dolphin youre on about, run years ago by Mannousos and Tina , then the two Manolis ran it as in Manolis the train driver, it shut down just before Kyma opened and this year Manousos has converted it into appartements, have spent many years there, started gong on my first visit in1987 ithink it was!
hope that helps?

Thanks for the info, all.  I guess you win some and you lose some.

Hi, I have some fond memories of the Crazy Dolphin...the only place for an alternative Cretan night and some of the best Brown Cow cocktails ever (what was in a Brown Cow anyway or am I better off not knowing ?).
It was there in 1987 but I couldn't find it when I went back in 92 and haven't found it since (there's a film script in there somewhere...). I thought I was missing something..until I read this board and realised it is now an apartment !
