First time in Plakias
« on: July 13, 2006, 10:20:00 PM »
Hiya everyone!
Hope everyone is well!!

It is me and my girlfriends first holiday together, and we depart for Plakias on Tuesday!!!
Im so exited and have read loads of good comments about the resort.

I was wondering what the extent of the fire was.

Also, any ideas of a restaurant for our first night?

Thanks for your help!

Rich H

Welcome my friend,

Have a great time. Most people enjoy their stay there and I am sure that you will do to.

Some of the restaurants that we visited and enjoyed:

Medousa, Kri-Kri, Lysseos, Mousesses, Christos, Paligremnos

There is also a restaurant on the west side of the village as you leave going towards Skinos beach, which served good sea food.

Hi Steve,

Cheers for the recommendations!!!
We shall probably visit most of them!!

I cannot wait till Tuesday now!!!

Is the area good for snorkelling, and are there any organised trips for such activities?

Cheers

There is the Kalypso Diving Centre, I believe, which is in the centre of the village.

Hello Rich,

I'd go for Mousses (wide menu selection including excellent value set meals) or Medousa (more limited menu but equally good food). Don't forget the Souvlaki House (The Hut) if you fancy some gyros pitta.

The quality of the tavernas in Plakias is extremely high and they are good value for money.

You will have the biggest water park in the northern hemisphere right on your door step. ... but no slides. Have a great time.. tell Babis at Medousa that all his friends in the UK are thinking of him and his family following the fire.

Saturday & Sunday: 08.15, 10.15, 14.15, 16.30, 19.30

Plakias - Rethymno: [3,10 euros]

07.00, 09.30, 12.15, 15.00, 18.00, 20.30

Quick answer is no!
The nearest major water park that I know of is the Aqua Splash in Hersonissos about two and a half hours away.
